Cookie & Tracking Policy
Last updated: May 15, 2026
This Cookie & Tracking Policy explains how Foodish Media ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on foodishmedia.com (the "Site"). It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more generally under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let the site remember information about your visit — for example, technical session details — so the site can function correctly. "Similar technologies" include things like local storage, session storage, and pixels, which serve similar purposes through different mechanisms.
2. What we currently use
Right now, our use of cookies and tracking is intentionally minimal. We use only what's needed to keep the Site running.
2.1 Strictly necessary (Firebase Hosting and Firestore)
The Site is hosted on Google Firebase and uses Firebase Firestore to store contact form submissions. Firebase may set short-lived session tokens or similar identifiers in your browser so that:
- Pages load reliably and securely over HTTPS;
- Form submissions can be associated with a single session and processed correctly;
- Basic anti-abuse and security checks can run.
These are strictly necessary for the Site to function. Without them, core features (like our contact form) won't work properly.
2.2 What we do not currently use
As of the "Last updated" date above, we do not use:
- Google Analytics or any other web analytics service;
- Advertising or retargeting cookies;
- Social media tracking pixels (e.g., Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, TikTok Pixel);
- Cross-site tracking technologies; or
- Any non-essential third-party cookies.
3. Cookie categories (for reference)
For transparency, here are the standard cookie categories and where our current use falls:
- Strictly necessary: Required for the Site to function. We use these (Firebase session tokens).
- Performance / analytics: Help us understand how visitors use the Site (e.g., page views, popular content). We do not currently use any.
- Functional: Remember preferences and choices to enhance your experience. We do not currently use any.
- Targeting / advertising: Used to build profiles and show targeted ads. We do not currently use any.
4. How to manage or opt out of cookies
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, there is currently no opt-in or opt-out toggle on the Site itself. If you want more control, you can manage cookies through your browser:
Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Site from working — for example, our contact form may fail to submit.
You can also explore your browser's "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control settings. Because we don't run analytics or advertising trackers, those signals are effectively already honoured today.
5. If we add analytics or tracking in the future
If we later add Google Analytics, a different analytics tool, marketing pixels, or any other tracking technology, we will:
- Update this Cookie & Tracking Policy to describe what we use, why, and for how long;
- Update our Privacy Policy accordingly;
- Revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page; and
- Where appropriate under PIPEDA, request your consent before non-essential cookies are set, typically through a cookie banner.
Until then, you can assume the Site's tracking footprint is limited to what's described in Section 2.
6. Third parties
Our current third-party provider for hosting and form storage is Google (Firebase). Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy and cookie practices, which we encourage you to review. We do not knowingly allow any other third parties to set cookies through the Site.
7. Relationship to our Privacy Policy
This Cookie & Tracking Policy is part of, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains your rights under PIPEDA — including the right to access, correct, or complain about how your personal information is handled — and how to contact our Privacy Officer.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when it last changed. Material changes will be announced on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
